Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Mission Springs

The Mission Springs is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day cask night party, complete with bagpipers and a new ale.
The event gets underway at 6 p.m., and brewmaster Kevin Winter is unveiling the the Cherry Bomb, a cask conditioned Belgium pale ale.
The pipers are expected around 7 p.m., according to the pub’s Facebook event page.
This popular annual event usually packs the house, so arrive early for a good seat.

Springs packed for CAMRA FV AGM

Craft beer fans converged on the Mission Springs Saturday afternoon for the annual general meeting of the Fraser Valley branch of CAMRA.

After the cask of Strongman Ale dry-hopped with galaxy was tapped by incoming president Dan Therien, the official part of the meeting began, including a report on the past year’s events, financial report and executive election.

Serving throughout the next 12 months will be the following volunteers:

President/treasurer: Dan Therien

Vice-president: Darren Dyckson

Secretary: Kristy Pajak

Communications: Jason Roessle

Members-at-large: Jonny Tyson, Jason Armitage, Pete Johnson and Ryan MacGregor

A handful of new members signed up, and several renewed their memberships, which are still a low $25 per year.

The Springs graciously offered to host us again this year, and donated the meeting space, cask and some nibbles to our non-profit advocacy group.

The event kicks off at 1 p.m., and Springs’ brewmaster Kevin Winter is promising a great cask for the gathering.

Cask event well attended at Billy Miner

Parallel 49′s cask of Centennial dry-hopped ale proved popular Saturday night at the Billy Miner Pub in Maple Ridge, as CAMRA Fraser Valley hosted its first cask event of 2013.

The beer was a pale amber, with a strong hop-forward nose that followed through on the taste.

Don’t forget about the AGM happening March 2 at the Mission Springs, starting at 1 p.m.

Winter cask event Feb. 9 at the Billy

Another year, and another great event organized by CAMRA Fraser Valley branch and hosted at the Billy Miner Pub in Maple Ridge.

The winter cask event takes place Feb. 9, with a cask of centennial dry-hopped ale at 4 p.m., courtesy of Parallel 49, one of the top craft brewers in the province.

Bring your ‘Mo to Mission

The Mission Springs and CAMRA Fraser Valley are teaming up to bring you THE Movember event of the month for craft beer lovers.
The popular brewpub on Oliver Street in Mission is hosting a Movember Cask Night Nov. 22, with the cask tapping at 6 p.m.
There will be prizes for the best ‘stache.
Movember is an annual event that sees men across the nation grow mustaches to raise funds in support of male health issues, specifically prostate cancer, and mental health initiatives.

Dead Frog cask at Kingfishers Oct. 25

Aldergrove-based Dead Frog Brewing Company is bringing a cask of amber ale to Maple Ridge’s Kingfishers Waterfront Bar and Grill.

The cask has been dry-hopped with Columbus, Cascadia and Galaxy.

The cask will be tapped at 6 p.m.

Kingfishers is located at 23840 River Rd., just west of the former Albion ferry dock.
